What a weekend

I think my walls have finally stopped pounding. The Cowal Pipe Band sounded amazing on Friday night – marching up and down the hall – no wonder they won at the weekend. Then on the Saturday some people worked all day turning the back of the hall into a bar for the evening and cleaned the hall. The 3 bands where loud and everyone looked like they were having fun. Who would have thought that i would ever hold a rock concert! Fo4r are in a competition up in Glasgow this weekend – Battle of the Bands I believe. It shows when you work hard it all pays off.

Sunday was alot quieter but there were loads of people in for the car boot sale. The next one is the 22nd August 12pm – 2pm.

I think its going to be quieter this weekend but the Red Road Exhibiton is still on so hopefully people will come in and have a look at that.

Pictures are everywhere

Well it wasn’t as busy as expected but they got it finished at 11.59am – Exhibition launched at 12.00pm. It looks brilliant. I’m kinda glad I’m not 30 odd stories high in the the Red Road estate – I dont want to be knocked down. It must be strange to leave your country and everything you know to come and live in Scotland. And when you get here you are put in a huge block of flats in Glasgow – i was listening to the DVD they have playing through the exhibition – all those people from all over the world in one place and so colourful. Its weird having blacked out windows I have to admit – everything seems a little dark.

I’ll be rocking in a week when its the Pilotcan and Dunoon Music Project night – all that live music in one evening. And its not long until Cowal Games – I’ll be so busy – lets hope it stays dry so I dont get too wet.

A Wet Sunday

Ok Im now really glad that those guys came and cleared my drains out the other week – im not leeking anymore. Sometimes its hard being so old especially in this horrible Scottish summer weather.

My Blog – Dunoon Burgh Hall

Welcome to my first blog. Who would have thought 136 years since I opened my doors and I am finally telling my story. Today has been a good day. John McAslan and Dava Sagankhan (McAslan Family Trust) came to see me today. They helped save me and have started to turn me into an Arts and Cultural Centre for the Community. They work with the Burgh Hall Trust and Project Group to help get me all fixed up and looking very smart. There are some really exciting things planned for the future. Its not long now until phase 2 of the building works.

There were loads of people in today – putting up pictures and plugging in TV’s and some funny looking headphones. I would never have imagined having a shower unit in here. Mind you all the banging and drilling has given me a headache. It is so good to know that in a weeks time I will be buzzing with loads of people in to see me.

Welcome

I am the Burgh Hall in Dunoon, I will be letting you know what has been happening to me over the next few months. Check back to see what’s been on, who has been using me and how my refurbishment is getting on.
